See your CV the way employers actually see it
Before a human ever opens your CV, software reads it first. Our ATS Scanner runs the same checks an Applicant Tracking System runs, then shows you exactly what it found and what to fix.
Why this matters
Most medium and large employers run every application through an Applicant Tracking System. The software extracts your name, contact details, roles, dates and skills into a database. If it cannot read a field, that field is simply empty when a recruiter searches.
A CV that looks beautiful in Word can be unreadable to a parser. Two columns, a table of skills, contact details in a header, an icon instead of the word "Email": each of these quietly removes information before a person ever sees it.
How our ATS Scanner works
Three steps, about ten seconds, no account changes required.
- 1
1. Upload your CV
Drag in a PDF, DOCX or TXT file, up to 5MB. It does not have to be built here: upload a CV made anywhere and we will analyze it.
- 2
2. Add a job ad (optional)
Paste any job posting. We extract the terms that actually matter from it and compare them against your CV to produce a match rate.
- 3
3. Read your report
You get a score out of 100, a compatibility checklist, every formatting error we found and specific rewrites for weak lines. Download it as a PDF.
What we check
Every check below is run on the real content of your file, not on a template guess.
ATS parsing
Whether a machine can extract text from your file at all and how much of it survives.
Formatting errors
Tables, columns, images, icons, text boxes, header and footer content and unsafe fonts.
Section structure
Contact, Summary, Experience, Education, Skills, Certifications, Languages and Projects, plus headings worth renaming.
Keyword match
Matched, missing and recommended keywords, with a match rate against a specific job ad.
Readability
Bullet usage, sentence length, action verbs, measurable results and filler phrases.
Keyword density
How often your strongest terms appear, so you can spot both gaps and keyword stuffing.
Language detection
We detect the language your CV is written in and adapt the analysis to it automatically.
History
Every scan is saved so you can watch your score move as you improve your CV.
How the score is calculated
Your score combines five weighted dimensions: parsing, formatting, sections, readability and, when you supply a job ad, keyword match. Formatting carries the most weight because layout problems destroy information before anything else can be judged. If you do not paste a job description, keyword match is excluded from the calculation rather than counted as zero.
85-100
Parses cleanly and reads well. Submit with confidence.
70-84
Works with most systems. A few fixes will lift it further.
50-69
Some systems will lose information. Worth fixing before you apply.
0-49
Likely to be misread or filtered out. Fix the critical issues first.
No tool can guarantee how a specific employer's system behaves. Vendors differ and configurations vary. This scanner reflects the parsing rules and formatting conventions that the major systems have in common, so a high score means your CV avoids the failure modes that are known to cause problems.
What happens to your file
Your CV is analyzed in memory and is never stored on our servers. Only the resulting report, the scores, findings and suggestions, is saved to your account so you can compare scans over time. You can delete any scan from your history at any moment.
Frequently asked questions
What is an ATS?
An Applicant Tracking System is the software employers use to receive and manage applications. It reads your CV, extracts structured data such as your name, roles, dates and skills and stores it so recruiters can search and filter candidates.
Does a low score mean I will be rejected?
No. The score measures how reliably software can read and index your CV, not how good a candidate you are. A low score means information is at risk of being lost before a human sees it, which is exactly the kind of problem worth fixing.
Can I scan a CV I built on another website?
Yes. That is one of the main reasons the scanner exists. Upload any PDF, DOCX or TXT file regardless of where it was created.
Do I need a job description?
No, it is optional. Without one you still get parsing, formatting, section, readability and compatibility analysis. Adding a job ad additionally unlocks keyword matching and a match rate for that specific role.
Which languages are supported?
Section detection and structural analysis work across all the languages the site supports and the language of your CV is detected automatically. Wording checks that depend on a word list, action verbs and filler phrases, currently cover English and Bulgarian; for other languages those specific checks are skipped rather than guessed.
Why does my beautifully designed CV score badly?
Visual design and machine readability pull in opposite directions. Columns, tables, graphics and icons look good to a person and confuse a parser. If you are applying through an online form, favour a clean single-column layout.
Is the ATS Scanner free?
The Resume Score is free on every account. Upload your CV and you get its score out of 100, plus how many problems are behind that number — as often as you like. Pro is what turns the score into answers: what each problem is, the exact fix, keyword matching against a job ad, the PDF report and your scan history.
